This Girl With Muscular Dystrophy Doesn’t Let Her Disease Slow Her Down

Meet Kate, a girl whose love for art is as strong as her desire to live. Unfortunately, destiny has left Kate with muscular dystrophy, a group of diseases that cause progressive weakness and the loss of muscle mass. Muscular dystrophy occurs because abnormal genes (mutations) interfere with the production of proteins, vital to forming healthy muscle.

Kate’s symptoms started when she was just 3 months old, and now she can’t even walk or raise her hands. This condition has no cure but the brave girl fights it by putting all of her energy into creating colorful paintings that transcend her creative spirit.
